Terminology for chain polymerization (IUPAC Recommendations 2021)

چکیده
Abstract Chain polymerizations are defined as chain reactions where the propagation steps occur by reaction between monomer(s) and active site(s) on polymer chains with regeneration of at each step. Many forms polymerization can be distinguished according to mechanism step (e.g., cyclopolymerization – when rings formed, condensative is a condensation reaction, group-transfer polymerization, polyinsertion, ring-opening opened), whether they involve termination or not living absent, reversible-deactivation polymerization), transfer involved degenerative-transfer type carrier site radical, ion, electrophile, nucleophile, coordination complex). The objective this document provide language for describing that both readily understandable self-consistent, which covers recent developments in rapidly evolving field.

Recommendations for terminology and databases for biochemical thermodynamics.
Chemical equations are normally written in terms of specific ionic and elemental species and balance atoms of elements and electric charge. However, in a biochemical context it is usually better to write them with ionic reactants expressed as totals of species in equilibrium with each other. This implies that atoms of elements assumed to be at fixed concentrations, such as hydrogen at a specifi...
متن کاملConcept Systems and Ontologies: Recommendations for Basic Terminology.
This essay concerns the problems surrounding the use of the term "concept" in current ontology and terminology research. It is based on the constructive dialogue between realist ontology on the one hand and the world of formal standardization of health informatics on the other, but its conclusions are not restricted to the domain of medicine. The term "concept" is one of the most misused even i...
متن کاملFurther conventions for NMR shielding and chemical shifts IUPAC recommendations 2008.
IUPAC has published a number of recommendations regarding the reporting of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data, especially chemical shifts. The most recent publication [Pure Appl. Chem. 73, 1795 (2001)] recommended that tetramethylsilane (TMS) serve as a universal reference for reporting the shifts of all nuclides, but it deferred recommendations for several aspects of this subject. This docu...
متن کاملNanowire connection using chain polymerization
We demonstrate that chain polymerization of molecules can be initiated by stimulating a thin molecular film with a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) tip, so that a conjugated polymer nanowire can be created at designated positions. The demonstration has been presented for a self-ordered monomolecular layer of diacetylene compound adsorbed on a graphite surface. By stimulating the molecular la...
